Seven Seas Licenses New 'There's No Freaking Way I'll Be Your Lover! Unless...' Light Novel Compilation
On February 11, 2026, North American publisher Seven Seas Entertainment's light novel brand Airship Imprint officially announced that it has acquired the English license for the spin-off collection of "There's No Freaking Way I'll Be Your Lover! Unless...". This license covers both print and digital editions, with a planned simultaneous release in North America and global English markets in June 2027.
Authorization Object
This authorized work is a collection of derivative short stories. This collection is written by the original author みかみてれん (Teren Mikami) and illustrated by むっしゅ (Musshu), featuring side stories that focus on main storyline characters but from perspectives other than the protagonist Renako. The official promotional description humorously emphasizes: "The stories don't completely revolve around Renako—at least most of them don't!", clearly indicating that this is a character ensemble spin-off work, focusing on the daily lives, inner monologues, and emotional developments of characters like Mayoi, Ajisai, and others.

Animation Plot Summary
High School Days Renako successfully debuted as a "sunny character" in high school to escape her gloomy middle school label. However, she remains socially anxious at her core. The more she tries to maintain her image, the more she reveals her true self at critical moments, triggering a series of hilarious social disasters.
At the same time, her relationship with the group's core member—current model and perfect beauty Mai Ouzuka—continues to grow closer, gradually moving from "friends" to an ambiguous zone just short of becoming lovers. Beneath its light comedy exterior, the anime delicately portrays the girls' fluctuations and growth between friendship, romance, and self-identity, featuring many iconic scenes from the original work as well as original heartwarming moments.
