Recap of Season 2 Ending (Post-Shibuya Incident)

After the Shibuya Incident in Season 2, Satoru Gojo is sealed away, and the fake Geto (Kenjaku) succeeds in his plan. Heavy casualties occur among curses and sorcerers, with thousands of Shibuya civilians killed. Sukuna briefly takes over Yuji's body, going on a rampage and destroying the entire district. Yuji wakes up in despair and self-blame, while Jujutsu High is left severely weakened.

Higher-Ups Order Yuji's Execution

Right after the Shibuya Incident ends, the higher-ups immediately turn hostile. They've always disliked Yuji as the "vessel for Sukuna," but Gojo had forcefully protected him and suspended the death sentence. With Gojo sealed and no one to hold them back, they reinstate the execution order. The main reason: So many deaths in Shibuya are blamed on Sukuna, and since Sukuna resides in Yuji's body, Yuji is seen as a ticking time bomb—too dangerous to keep alive. Better to eliminate him and prevent further incidents.

Continuing from Shibuya Incident: First Half of Culling Game Arc

This leads straight into the first half of the Culling Game arc. The higher-ups order Yuji's execution, and Yuta Okkotsu is sent back to carry it out, leading to a fight between the two. Then, the fake Geto's "Culling Game" officially begins—a nationwide survival battle where sorcerers are forced to participate. It's a points-based system where killing earns points, with extremely strict rules. Yuji, Megumi, and others are dragged in, the Jujutsu High team keeps fighting, Maki awakens in Season 3 with a massive power boost, and new players join one after another, ramping up the scale to the max.
