Character Background

Choso is the eldest brother of the "Cursed Womb: Death Paintings." The Cursed Womb: Death Paintings are nine special beings born over 150 years ago from a human woman and the special grade cursed spirit Kenjaku (Kamo Noritoshi), and are hybrids of humans and cursed spirits. The nine brothers were sealed and kept for a long time in the form of Cursed Objects, and only materialized after being unsealed.

Choso and his younger brothers Kechizu (second brother) and Eso (third brother) were the first to obtain physical forms. As the eldest of the nine brothers, Choso has an extremely deep affection for his younger brothers. His sole principle of action is to protect his brothers. However, fate played a cruel joke on him. Eso and Kechizu were killed in battle against Yuji Itadori, causing Choso to view Yuji as his mortal enemy and vow to avenge his brothers.

However, during the Shibuya Incident, when confronting Yuji Itadori, Choso suddenly felt a strange "blood connection." He was shocked to discover that Yuji Itadori was also his brother—Yuji's mother had her body taken over by Kenjaku (Noritoshi Kamo), which meant that Yuji and the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings shared a common bloodline origin. This discovery completely changed Choso's stance. The enemy who killed his brother was simultaneously his own brother—faced with this contradictory truth, Choso ultimately chose to accept Yuji and stand by his side.

Blood Manipulation

The technique "Blood Manipulation" inherited by Choso was originally a blood control technique passed down through the Kamo family. As a hybrid of human and cursed spirit, Choso has mastered this technique to an extremely high level. The core of Blood Manipulation is to control one's own blood for both offense and defense. Choso can solidify, harden, and shoot out his blood, transforming it into a wide variety of attack methods. Due to the special physiology of a Cursed Womb, the amount of blood in his body far exceeds that of ordinary people, giving him an unparalleled advantage when using Blood Manipulation compared to regular sorcerers.

Choso's strongest long-range attack technique. He highly compresses and refines his blood, then fires it at extremely high speed. Shibuya Incident · Showdown with Yuji Itadori 

During the Shibuya Incident, Choso, driven by his obsession with avenging his younger brothers, confronted Yuji Itadori head-on. This battle showcased the overwhelming power of Choso's Blood Manipulation, with his Piercing Blood attacks repeatedly pushing Itadori to the brink. However, in the midst of the fight, Choso suddenly sensed a bloodline connection with Itadori, leaving him deeply shaken.

When Choso realized that Itadori was also his younger brother, he let go of his hatred and turned to stand on Itadori’s side. That line, “You are my younger brother,” was not only an acknowledgment of Itadori, but also Choso’s instinct as an older brother—no matter what had happened, he had to protect his younger brother. This moment became one of the most moving scenes in the Shibuya Incident.

Resolve for the Shinjuku Showdown

In the final battle against Sukuna, Choso joined the fight without hesitation to protect Yuji. Facing an overwhelming gap in strength, he showed no sign of retreat. Through his actions, he proved that as an older brother, he was willing to give everything for his younger brother, even his own life. Choso has a complex karmic relationship with Kenjaku. Kenjaku (Kamo Noritoshi) is both the "father" who created the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings and the mastermind manipulating everything behind the scenes. Toward this being who gave him life yet exploited his existence, Choso's attitude is one of both anger and sorrow.

The Ultimate Big Brother Archetype

Choso's most core personality trait is his unconditional love for his younger brothers. In his value system, his brothers are everything. For his brothers, he can become an enemy of the entire world; for his brothers, he can also let go of deep-seated hatred. This extreme "elder brother power" makes him stand out uniquely among the numerous characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. His obsession with his brothers has transcended ordinary familial affection, existing almost like a form of faith. Initially, Choso only cared about his own brothers and was completely indifferent to the survival of human society.
