DrawMarket Artist – RED Note Promotion Program
China has a massive commission market. We've noticed many artists want to grow a Chinese fanbase and have even signed up for RED (Xiaohongshu), but aren't sure how to run their account. So we've put together this RED operation guide + official promotion program to help you reach Chinese buyers from scratch.
1. What is REDnote (Xiaohongshu)?
REDnote is one of China's largest social media platforms, with a highly active, mostly female user base. Many OC (original character) creators and VTubers have accounts here and build their following. If you want to grow a Chinese fanbase, this is our most recommended platform. It feels similar to Instagram but uses a two-column waterfall layout and is centered on image + text posts.
2. How to Download & Sign Up
Download:
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xingin.xhs
App Store: search REDnote
Sign in with a phone number, email, or Apple account.
3. Tips for Running Your Account
We recommend using the following template for your bio:
- Illustrator
- DrawMarket: {your DrawMarket username}
This shows that you're an artist and lets people know which commission platform you're on.
💡 Golden opportunity: New accounts and international accounts are more likely to get featured on the homepage in their first few posts. So make your first posts count!
① Start with an "Artist Introduction" post
Images: 1–3 of your best works
Text: a short intro + your specialties
Reference template:
Title (in Chinese): 大家好, 我是来自{country}的画师{your name}
Title: Hello everyone, I'm {your name}, an artist from {country}
Body (in Chinese): 初来乍到,请多指教!我是画师{your name},擅长绘制{绘画风格}。很高兴能认识中国的朋友~目前我已入驻 DrawMarket,如果你有约稿需求,欢迎来找我约稿哦!
Body: Nice to meet you all! I'm {your name}, and I specialize in drawing {style}. So happy to connect with friends in China~ I'm now on DrawMarket, so feel free to reach out if you'd like to commission me!
② Keep posting your portfolio
RED's algorithm values a focused, consistent theme and like Instagram—strong visuals. We recommend:
- Focus on showcasing your work; one image per post is fine, or share WIP (work-in-progress) videos
- Post regularly to keep your account active
③ Post a commission announcement
If you have upcoming openings, post a dedicated commission announcement and pin it—covering open date, available slots, commission platform, ToS, etc. (price is optional).
Image: a screenshot of your showcase page works well
Using a translator to post in Chinese is totally fine—buyers will understand. Feel free to adapt the template above to your own style.
④ Tags: Add 3–5 core art-related tags, e.g.(in Chinese): #绘画 #插画 #约稿 #稿件展示 (#art #illustration #commission #artwork showcase).
No need to overload on tags.
⑤ Notes: Keep things friendly. Stick to art-related content and avoid politics or topics unrelated to the art community.
4. DrawMarket Official Promotion Program✨
