DrawMarket Artist – RED Note Promotion Program

Draw Market
Update on Jul 9, 2026

China has a massive commission market. We've noticed many artists want to grow a Chinese fanbase and have even signed up for RED (REDNote), but aren't sure how to run their account. So we've put together this RED operation guide + official promotion program to help you reach Chinese buyers from scratch.

1. What is REDnote (Xiaohongshu)?

REDnote is one of China's largest social media platforms, with a highly active, mostly female user base. Many OC (original character) creators and VTubers have accounts here and build their following. If you want to grow a Chinese fanbase, this is our most recommended platform. It feels similar to Instagram but uses a two-column waterfall layout and is centered on image + text posts.

📌What we can offer

  • 1v1 collaboration with our business team
  • Paid boosting to get homepage exposure and reach high-budget buyers
  • Joint promotion during major platform campaigns

📌Case

We collaborated with Korean artist Eit. Eit posted an artist introduction on May 29, 2026, got featured on the homepage, and gained a large following of Chinese fans and buyers. ( Post Content )

Eit opened commissions on June 29. DrawMarket boosted the commission post with RED's official paid promotion tool ("Fries"/REDNote ads, covered by us), and that post received 150+ commission inquiries in a single day—many from high-budget Chinese buyers. ( Post Content )

📌How to join?

Whether you already run a RED account or are just starting out, simply fill out the sign-up form and leave your RED handle. When a promotion opportunity comes up, our business team will reach out to discuss collaboration—provided your account is a good fit.

⚠️ Note:This program is designed to support artists looking to break into the Chinese market. Actual results will vary and depend on factors such as REDNote's algorithm and traffic distribution, how well your art style resonates with the audience, your pricing, and more. We cannot guarantee specific outcomes.

4. Beginner's Guide to Running a REDNote Account

📌 This guide is updated regularly as platform rules and best practices evolve.

⚠️ This guide is for reference only. All benchmarks and strategies here are based on real-world experience, not official REDNote standards. The platform's rules and algorithm change from time to time, so always defer to the latest official guidance and adapt these tips to your own situation.

Warm-Up Phase: Don't Post Right Away

For roughly your first 3 days, hold off on posting. Instead:

  • Browse content you're interested in
  • Follow other artists and accounts you like
  • Engage a little (like, comment, share)

This signals to the algorithm that you're a real person—and a genuine international creator.
When a brand-new account immediately posts ads or promo content, the algorithm flags it as a spam/marketing account.

Growth Phase: Post Consistently

REDNote's algorithm rewards a focused, on-topic feed, and much like Instagram, it puts heavy weight on visuals. So keep your content centered on your art.

① Your First Post: An Artist Intro

  • Images: 1–3 of your best pieces
  • Caption: A short intro + the styles you specialize in

Chinese caption template (feel free to tweak it to match your style):
Title: 大家好,我是来自 {country} 的画师 {name}
Body: 初来乍到,请多指教!我是画师 {name},擅长绘制 {style}。很高兴能认识中国的朋友~后续也会更新一些过往作品和绘画过程,欢迎大家一起交流!

English version (for your reference):

Title: Hi everyone, I'm {name}, an artist from {country}
Body: Hello! I'm {name}, and I specialize in {style}. So glad to meet friends in China~ I'll be sharing past works and my drawing WIP, and I'd love to connect with you all.

② Keep Sharing Your Portfolio

Make your art the star. Mix up your formats:

  • Image + text — even a single piece per post works
  • WIP videos (your drawing process)
  • Other creative edits / clips

🔥 Ride the wave of popular Chinese IPs

one of the fastest ways to get seen. Drawing fanart of trending Chinese or anime IPs is the single most effective shortcut for a new account to gain traction. Hot IPs come with massive search and recommendation traffic, so your fanart is far more likely to reach the right Chinese fans.

  • How to find trending IPs: Check REDNote's homepage trending searches and hot-topic lists, or look at recently viral games, anime, and shows—note both the titles and character names.
  • How to do it: Post one high-quality fanart piece → put the IP name in your title → add that IP's official hashtags (e.g. #原神 / #原神同人 for Genshin Impact).
  • Others: Being an "international artist" is a label that sets you apart from local creators. Lean into it as a hook—it's a great way to spark curiosity and pull fans in.

③ Post a Commission Announcement

Once your account hits the "stable" milestone or lands a breakout post, publish a dedicated commission announcement and pin it to the top.

What to include: opening date, number of slots, the DrawMarket commission platform, your ToS, etc.—no need to list prices
Images: a screenshot of your portfolio or shop page

What counts as a "breakout post"?

As a new account, hitting any one of these means the algorithm has pushed your post to the Explore feed:

  • Likes: ≥ 500 (≥ 100 is a "mini-hit")
  • Views: ≥ 10,000
  • Saves + Comments: 3×+ higher than your usual posts
  • New followers from one post: ≥ 50

What counts as "running stably"?

  • Posting consistently for 1–2 weeks, with 5+ posts total
  • A steady cadence with no long gaps, a cohesive account style, and no major rule violations
  • Posts get baseline engagement (comments, etc.—not zero likes / zero saves)

TIPS:

  1. Posting frequency: Early on, post every 1–3 days and watch your reach and follower stats. Once you've built a base, adjust to your own pace.
  2. Hashtags: Use Chinese tags—3–5 core art tags (e.g. #绘画 #插画 #约稿 #稿件展示 = art / illustration / commissions / portfolio). For fanart, always add the IP's official hashtags too.
  3. Language: Just run your text through a translator into Chinese—Chinese users will understand it. Feel free to reuse and adapt the templates above.
  4. Interaction: Keep it friendly. Stay focused on art, and steer clear of off-topic subjects like politics.
  5. Study top artists in your niche. Browse the popular posts of similar, high-follower artists—learn from their topics, cover images, titles, and layouts, then adapt them into your own style.
  6. Follow REDNote's official "Creator Academy." Its guides are the most authoritative and most in step with the latest algorithm—your best first-hand source for how the platform works.
  7. Join official campaigns. Official topic and submission events often come with extra traffic support, giving you more exposure.
